IELTS OVERALL BAND SCALE LEVELS

Over the course of my experience as an IELTS instructor(CELTA certified) in Nepal, I have come across lots of students who fear that they will fail the IELTS exam. IELTS is meant to test your English skills. The listening and Reading components of the IELTS are meant to test your receptive skills, whereas the Writing and the Speaking components are targeted to test your ‘productive skills’. You should clearly understand: you cannot fail the IELTS exams. DIVING INTO THE IELTS SUB-TESTS

Listening The listening Sub-test of the IELTS comprises of four sections. With ten questions in each section, there are altogether 40 questions in this part of the IELTS. The first and the second section tends to be associated with social needs; the first: a dialogue between two speakers, and the second: a monologue (only one person speaking). On the other hand, the third and the fourth section of the listening Sub-test are associated with training or education; the third can involve up to four speakers, and the fourth is a monologue. The listening Sub-test comprises: note completion questions, form completion question, multiple choice questions, and sentence completion questions; flow-chart completion, short-answer questions, matching, summary completion, map/plan/diagram labeling, and table completion. Overall, local-fixed line remained the most popular means for telephone conversations in the UK between the given years. To begin with, the total duration of calls made via local-fixed line in 1995 was approximately 70 billion minutes, which was just about double the total call duration of national and international –fixed line in the same year. On the other hand, in the same year, mobiles were the least popular means for telephone conversation in the UK; this accounted to less than 5 billion calling minutes.
