The two pie charts demonstrate the percentage of energy
consumed by an Australian household in average, and the percentage of greenhouse
gas it emits as a consequence of the energy consumption. Overall, most energy
in an average Australian household is used for heating, yet the percentage
of greenhouse gas emitted by heating is less than half of its energy use.
To begin with, the percentage of energy consumed for heating
in an average Australian household is 42% which is more than double compared to the percentage of greenhouse gas that heating emits (15 %). Furthermore, cooling
and lighting use up 2% and 4 % energy, respectively(in an average Australian
household); however the percentage of greenhouse gas emitted by cooling is 1%
more than its energy consumption, and that of lighting is twice as much
compared to its use.
Moreover, although an average Australian household uses 30 % of
its total energy for water heating purposes (second to that of heating), it
emits 2% more greenhouse gas. In comparison, only half as much energy(15%) is used
(by an average Australian household) for other appliances. Lastly, an average
Australian household uses 7 % energy for refrigeration which emits twice as
much greenhouse gas.
