ARGUMENT ESSAY
People say that it is
impossible for women to be an effective woman and to be a good mother in home
at the same time. They also suggest that the government should give the salary
to mothers who stay at home to take care of their children.
It is often argued that
women are unable to maintain a balance between work and taking care of their
children at home. These people also recommend that mothers staying at home (for
taking care of their children) should be provided with salary. In my opinion
women are strong by nature and are absolutely capable to be efficient at work
and take care of their children at home simultaneously, and they should only be
provided with a salary during their maternity leave.
Biologically, women are
different than men; they also bear the social responsibility of reproducing and
giving continuity to the human race. While providing a salary to women who stay
at home and take care of their children might appear as a solution to some in
terms of helping these women financially, in the long run it is likely to
deteriorate their (stay-home mothers’) productivity even further. Provided that
women receive financial help for staying home and taking care of their
children, they might be conditioned to believe that they do not have to work
for a living and that this could cause them to be ineffective. As a result,
this might amplify unemployment problems for the country and also deteriorate
its economy. Hence, I am of the view that the government should provide salary
to the mothers only when they are on a maternity leave. This, in my view, will
be a good way to respect their pain and also appreciate their potential of
furthering the generation. Moreover, when mothers have to take care of their
children, they will be motivated to look for jobs that match their skills and
qualifications which will give them the strength to change their life standards
on their own(without relying on the government), thus empowering not only the
mothers but also their children.
On the contrary, some
people argue that women who take care of their children are so occupied that
they neither have the time nor the resources to look for a job or work one, and
on these grounds they propose that stay-home mothers be paid a salary.
In a nutshell, although
paying a salary might appear as a solution to the problem of unemployed
stay-home mothers, I feel it will only complicate the situation further, and
this is not a viable alternative for the problem at all.
